Have you ever heard of Solar Power? I guess you have. Solar Power is the type of energy that is obtained by the sun and converted into mechanical energy. From a scientific point of view, it makes you release hormones that increase your "happiness". And just like that, there are some songs that make you feel happy. Some "solar-powered songs".
Looks like the singer Lorde, who is a 25-year-old Kiwi (New Zealander), agrees with this idea. Lorde released her third album named "Solar Power" in 2021. Surprisingly (!) the main song for this album was named Solar Power too. Now let's explore her sunny utopia, shall we?
The Path
In the opening track of the album, she welcomes us with a bunch of messages. Firstly, she mentions how celebrities have such power and impact on people‘s lives. She clearly denies giving people answers to some private questions they have. Instead, her advice is to encourage them. So that people can turn their faces to the Mother Nature. She uses the following sentences to express herself:
There’s a lot of trust and faith and reverence based on people in my position, and more so than ever I think I realised that you cannot look to me for answers. We should all be looking to the sun, the ocean, and nature.
Personally, I believe that this is an inspirational message for everyone. No one but you can help yourself in the decisions you make.
Solar Power
Ms. Lorde blesses us with powerful voices powered by the ‘Sun’ on the title track of the album. As a matter of fact, the title both makes the album and the song more clear. Plus it is an amazing song to vibe with! Although, the release has one con.
The release was planned for June 10, which is summer in the Northern Hemisphere. However, in her homeland, New Zealand the release was technically made in winter. This means that most probably it was snowing back then!
California
“California” is a classical teenager song with touches of gratification towards love and life. Nevertheless, after bringing up her romantic memories, Lorde regrets them.
Stoned at the Nail Salon
In this track, she talks about growing up and making the right decisions. She advises people to question their commitments.
This is a refreshing song with a unique name!
Fallen Fruit
This song has an extremely deep, soul-touching meaning. Firstly, she calls out for all the old generations who egotistically used the Earth. Of course, then she talks about how we are not fixing anything too. Shame! The music video of this song is highly recommended.
Secrets from a Girl
She talks about her past versions, as she mentions that she will be like the person who she evolved from in the previous years. Every one of us learns something throughout the path. And all we need to do is to actually internalize the data.

The Man with the Axe
We all have crushes. And she had one too. In this song, she describes the love she has for that lucky man. Who wouldn’t want to be in his place!
Dominoes
A wisely written, professional way of diss. Lorde is describing a toxic man who then starts a long journey: discovering himself. This man talks with therapists and does yoga -this was unnecessary information but it is funny-
Big Star
Another emotional song again, but this time it is about her dog. The dog unfortunately passed away. I’m emotional too now!
Leader of a New Regime
After The Path, Lorde talks about a leader who is a savior that is needed to recover people. This is either us or someone very humane. Who knows? This song is relatively shorter than the others.
Mood Ring
Ms. Lorde with her girls, on self-care, taking her time to slay… This beautiful single is about self-motivation. She and her friends are performing a relieving ritual throughout the video. Definitely recommended if you want a “Sunday for yourself” with your besties. Plus, I really love the color and aura of this song.
Oceanic Feeling
We know she is an island gal, it runs in her blood to love the waters. This track is extremely long and not memorable however the lyrics are still catchy and meaningful!
Perfect for people with blue auras. Or blue witches…
And just like that, she made all of us happy with the album she released. Whoever you are or whatever you are doing, she will inject the sun into your heart.
